MSF Supermoto returns for 4th successive year with round 1 in Tangkak, Johor

THE 2024 supermoto racing season kicks off with Round 1 of the 2024 MSF Supermoto Series on 25-26 May at the Tangkak Circuit in Johor.

This will mark the 4th year the series is being organized. Round 1, is expected to attract almost 40 riders on board 450cc four-stroke machines competing in five classes of racing: Rookie; Evo; Advanced; All Stars Legends; and All Stars Pro.

This year’s series is scheduled for four rounds. Round 2 will be held at the Universiti Malaysia Perlis ( UniMAP) Racing Circuit from 3-4 August, followed by Round 3 (21-22 September) and the finale (16-17 November) with the final two venues to be determined at a later date,

“Interest in supermoto racing has been gradually increasing especially so in attracting new and young riders, many of whom, use this platform as one of the important disciplines to train and enhance their riding skills before going on to compete in the higher levels of motorcycle racing,” said MSF Superrmoto Principal Adian Yein Khalid.

“We’ve had the privilege of hosting a number of riders, for example the likes of Hakim Danish, who now competes in the Red Bull Rookies Cup in Europe. The competition has been intense in all five classes of racing with even participants from Singapore, and we expect this to grow exponentially this season with the presence of new as well as experienced riders.”

Among the contenders to look out for is Singaporean Eric Chia who is also two-time All Stars Legends champion and will be returning to seek his third consecutive title. The Series may also welcome back All Stars Pro champion Ibrahim Norrodin; Rookie champion Hervin Gyanasegran; Advanced champion Azizul Khairy; and Evo champion Muhamat Hairy.

“I will be on the same bike, a TM Racing SMX 450 this season, and continuing to represent HI-REV Racing. I have been preparing since the Singapore National Championship started in February this year with 3 rounds in January, March and May. So basically I have been riding actively and am well prepared for this year’s MSF Supermoto Series,” said Chia. “I am also looking forward to seeing more riders compete in the All Starts Legends class.”

HI-REV racing will also be fielding Lee Yi Loong in the All Stars Legend class; Marcus Lee and Reyco Chai in the Evo class; with its only female rider representative Nor Shamira Azahar in the Rookie class.

Also fielding a supercharged line-up for the series is Team KMTR Ravenol Malaysia. The team includes Keith Chia competing in the All Stars Legend class; Derryk Lee in the Evo Class; and Mohd Redzuan and Elson Lau in the Rookie class.

The weekend will consist of 2 races with riders taking part in an additional 5-lap Super Rocco sprint race to determine their places on the starting grid.

Entrance to watch the race at Tangkak Circuit is free of charge. Round 1 will also coincide with the running of the opening round of the FIM MiniGP Malaysia Championship. – REFLEKS!
